Mara Sternthal Named Senior Vice President of Business Development for Ascent Media’s Global Media Exchange

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Jan 13, 2009 -- Ascent Media Group, a leading provider of creative, technical and distribution services to the media and entertainment industries, has named Mara Sternthal senior vice president of Business Development for its Global Media Exchange (GMX) service. In her role, Sternthal will spearhead efforts to bring buyers and sellers of premium content onto the platform and will be based in Santa Monica.

Previous to joining Ascent Media Group, Sternthal consulted entertainment and new media clients, specializing in developing and implementing content acquisition and programming strategies, sourcing new revenue opportunities, negotiating partnerships and alliances. Her clients included VCs and institutional investors, and media and technology companies such as Microsoft.

Prior to becoming a consultant, Sternthal served as senior vice president of Business Affairs and Development at Paramount, overseeing the full spectrum of transactions for the Home Video Group and the development of new media business worldwide. Sternthal led her team in structuring and closing Paramount’s first content deals with online video platforms, including Amazon, Apple and CinemaNow. She was also a Paramount board representative for Movielink, the first studio-owned movie download service on the Internet.

Sternthal has also held senior leadership positions during her career with Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
